Even though the 2010 edition of the rodeo is almost a year away, in December, the organizers are already selling tickets. It seems like it is such a popular event compared to the supply of tickets, that now is the time to get tickets for the National Finals Rodeo Vegas.By December, the only choice will probably be to turn to scalpers and ticket brokers.I have too many work and family obligations but, if I could, I would like to attend the rodeo, because it's fun and exciting. One thing I admire is the lasso skills of the cowboys in the roping events. That is also a fast paced, exciting contest. One can only imagine how many hours they have to practice. A rodeo is like a window to a simpler time, where you get to see hard working craftsmen demonstrating their abilities. This is one of those events that parents can watch with their kids, and neither group will be bored.

How worth am I?
There was just a simple question from his side to me. How worth are you today? Does a person of your age with same qualification in another country worth the same? Is it not a foolishness to sit idle and waste your time and knowledge? Don’t you think you depend on your husband for each and everything you need? Till this moment I haven’t given a thought on this much. As for as I am concerned, I had a feeling that I live happily with my husband, take care of the family and house, pass time usefully by learning things on net, read novels, do knitting, etc all at my husband's expense. So the moment my relative asked such questions, I really felt bad on my attitude till date. Even a beggar will have some earnings daily but I am penny less. People abroad of my age and qualification earn in millions, but why I am not? May be not in millions but should at least earn worth my capability isn’t it? Given the current market scenario not sure if I will get any job in the near future. But surely will try to join some work soon.

Education is for money ?
Wondering whats there in it to get shocked with these questions? Simple. The people's attitude. Their attitude infers that education is just for our job or money earning process and nothig else. Is it so ? I strongly believe education is to understand self, to get oneself cultured, polished and civilised. In a technical sense education is the process by which society, through schools, colleges, universities, and other institutions, deliberately transmits its cultural heritage, its accumulated knowledge, values, and skills, from one generation to another.
Ofcourse I never deny the point that having a skill and not using it to earn money which is very essential to survive in today's world is an absurd. But still what I want to really emphasis people thru this blog is education is not primarily for just earning money !!

First Job
It was my joining date, stepped in to the company dreaming myself sitting in a cabin, writing code to deliver a search engine product like Google to the boss and clients. The dream was coming true one by one. Post training, got in to a project, they allocated a separate cabin. Cant express how I felt, when I sat in my cabin first time. Chasing my dream. Of course the first one was a great project but it slowed down my speed of chasing my dream. It was a maintainence project. There will not be much coding. Kinda bug fixing project. Still learnt many things there. Felt how differrent the real corporate life is from the one we dreamt of, at college. I should really mention my first manager. A great leader, very cheerful, friendly and smart enough to get the job done easily from us. I know thats why she is a manager there :)Learnt many things from her too. She was the person who helped to keep myself updating with all the technical certifications.
At last got in to a development project.Nearing my dream. You would have heard SDLC(Software Development Life cycle). A common word in the software world. The experience of going through an entire SDLC with a big team is a great one. Late night workings, deadline tensions, bugs in hundreds, thousand meetings, countless different experiences. And there it was, our product( don't imagine the search engine which i mentioned previously, it was just a web application) running live on the machine. Believe it or not i felt like god.creations!! May be its not as big as this universe but still it was created by me, isn't it ? Nothing can replace that joy.Had a similar kind of experience in another two projects too.
It was this day last year happened to quit such a loving job. But its okay I did it after all for my loving husband. May be I will continue enjoying it in my second job soon.

Blood from mosquito traps Finnish suspect
Helsinki: Police in Finland believe they have caught a car-thief thanks to a DNA sample taken from a sample of his blood found inside a mosquito.
Last June a car was stolen in Lapua, some 380 km north of Helsinki. It was soon found near a railway station in Seinaejoki, about 25 km from where it was stolen.
“A police patrol carried out an inspection of the car and they noticed a mosquito that had sucked blood. It was sent to the laboratory for testing, which showed the blood belonged to a man who was in the police registers,” inspector Sakari Palomaeki told AFP.
The suspect, who has been interrogated, has insisted that he did not steal the car. He also said he had hitch hiked and was given a lift by a man driving the car.
Palomaeki said a prosecutor would decide if the evidence was solid enough for charges to be pressed. — AFP

Fighting Gravity
As per a survey Worldwide, less than 6% knew oracle, but over 90% knew Sun's rival database product MySQL. Nearly 75% of the projects developed were in Java and its variations. Despite this scenario why did the company sell out? The idea was to build a big developer network by giving its software free to those that have more time than money and sell its service and support to those that have money than time. But looks like the strategy has run out of time. May be it’s a "win-win" for oracle and Sun Microsystems. But how will the open source developers win?

Star routes
the supplements of the daily issue. I am sure you will enjoy this article too but
only if you know tamil cinemas.
Singara chennai is by no means boring to the comedian. Chennai by most of he people defined
by two super stars and this time its not Thalaivar Rajini. Its the VJ kanth Bus: 12B, 12G &
M12B.
These three bus routes are what you and I can call Vijaykanth Buses. These are the real road
demons and undisputed racers of he roads in chennai. The etymology? Their namesake, captain's
real name Vijaykanth. Why ? That's because their actions are very much similar to his.
Fr instance, have you ever seen a bus tilt so much so that a person who is leaning from the
foot board (read hapless conductor) has his rear coming in to contact with the read coming
into contact with the road every time the bus takes a sharp left ? This bus does this and
more than that.
What Vijaykanth and 12 series have in commonBoth get full houses.
Both are very famous.
Both have appeared in movies.
They defy all the possible laws, gravity and traffic.
They try t outdo themselves in every possible way when they come out from wherever they are.
Both are old, but walk and run at 90 kmph.

Wall Bed

Just Joking
One elderly couple is visiting another for supper. The two women go in to the kitchen for a moment, leaving the men to talk.
One of the men says to the other, “The missus and I went to the nicest restaurant last night." What was it called?" the other inquiries. “That’s just It." he replies. "I can't recall, Say what's the name of that red flower that has thorns all over it?” A rose" he responds.
"Yeah that’s it”, he says energetically. He then whirls around, and yells in to the kitchen “Hey Rose! What was the name of the restaurant we went to last night?”
Six again
A man asked his wife what she'd like for her birthday. "I would love to be six again", she replied.
On the morning of her birthday, he got her up bright and early, and off they went to a local theme park. He put her on every ride in the park.
Five hours later she staggered out of the theme park, her head reeling and her stomach upside down. They went o a fast food joint and ate to their heart's content. Then they were off to a movie.
Finally she returned home with her husband and collapsed into bed. He leaned over and asked lovingly: “Well dear, what was it like being six again?" One eye opened. “You idiot, I meant my dress size".

Elections
But why it hasn't striked for a single company or government to make this election process fully digital? Having an electronic voting machine doesn't mean that the full election process is made digital.
I can easily accept the usage of loads and loads of papers, given that they conduct a flawless election. But in the recent election in our place, there was chaos in many of the election booths. You know what the reason is; many people's names were missing in the lists available in the polling booth. Though the people had their voting identity card and other proof with them, they weren't allowed to vote. Many got back to their home frustrated. According to the information from Times of India, A polling agent has revealed that the list given to them was in complete disorder. The list for people to vote in one polling booth is incomplete while these left out names are in another polling booth's list. They have been sending away people to other polling centre.
Why such chaos? Is it not possible to have a centralized database for the country or at least for each state? Isn't it possible to load people's finger prints as their identity in those databases? Is it not possible to add a sensor to the existing voting machine to recognize the finger prints and allow the people to vote? If these could be implemented
we can avoid all these confusions on the day of election
we can have the increased voting percentage in the country
we can reduce the big queue formations we can avoid the forgeries
But how much will this cost the country to implement such a kind of setup for election. Even if it is huge, it’s a onetime cost. Isn't it ? They are not going to spend it every year. After all maintaining the database of fingerprints will be the regular cost for the government. But that's worth the benefits out of it. What you all have to say on my suggestions. Feel free to tell me. May be our thoughts will help our future generations one day.

Are we eating healthy food?
· Green leafy vegetables contain toxic metals - due to industrial pollutants absorbed by the plants.
· apples coated with wax to increase their shelf life and reduce shrinkage
· Powdered pepper with wheat flour
· Asfoetida powder with powdered rice
· Cheap soya oil with sun flower oil
· Foreign leaves added to tea...so many like these...
The task of ascertaining the purity of the food consumed by people continues to be time consuming. Fresh fruits and vegetables were an alternative when groceries were contaminated in the name of adulteration. But what to eat now when fresh foods are contaminated? Why d they spoil the natural food in the name of business? Don’t they realize even their kith and kin are affected by this? The situation has changed from 'eat food to be healthy' to 'eat healthy food to at least live your life for a while.
If anyone of you comes to know the methods of checking the fresh fruits adulteration, please share it with us too.

A learning
Wondering how genius our younger generations are! Visit this site of Vishnu. It makes you speechless.
We happened to move to another place a year back from our hometown. I couldn’t manage a transfer from my old company to the new place. So happened to quit. I started searching for a new job in the new city. But couldn’t get one. May be it’s the recession time. But the mistake, which I did, was to search for a job with my known skill sets sitting idle at home. I did not think of learning new concepts and updating myself so that I can look for a different job. That's because I had a mindset that I can’t learn many things and dump myself with all basics and intermediate at a time. Its waste of time too. So better progress in the same Java domain technically in the career. But after reading the above mentioned boy's profile, got ashamed of myself. A small boy, who doesn’t even have a proper training in any single language or technology, is becoming an owner of so many sites, domains and company just by his killer instinct, Internet love and self-learning capability. Wow. I should learn from him. Of course all of us should do.
Mum @ work
Most city women are expected to juggle corporate and family life. Making the transition from home to work is not always easy. Here are some tips which I read recently in a mother's day special journal. It may interest the new mothers in my reader's list.
Let go of the guilt. Returning to work often poses emotional conflicts for new mothers. But working outside the home doesn't make you a bad mother. And its all right to look forward to the challenges and interactions of your job.
Find dependable child care. Look for a safe, stimulating environment and qualified care-givers. When things are taken care of on the personal front, you will be able to give it your best at work.
Talk to your boss. Clarify your job duties and schedule so you will know what's expected out of you after your maternity leave. You might ask for flexi hours or telecommuting etc.
Once you are at work stay connected. Plan a daily phone call to your baby's child-care center to find out how your baby is doing. Set aside time to connect with your baby.
Make backup plans. It’s better to be safe than sorry. Know what you will do if your baby is sick or there's no one to take care of your child at the last minute. You can opt for work from home until the problem is solved. Most of the company supports work from home now a days.
Nurture your own well being. It’s important to unwind with a favorite book or soft music. Cut down on any unnecessary commitments. On weekends, sleep when your baby sleeps.
Maintain a positive attitude. Tell your baby how excited you are to see him or her at the end of the day. Your baby may not understand your words, but he or she will pick up on your emotions.
