Just Joking

Bad Memory
One elderly couple is visiting another for supper. The two women go in to the kitchen for a moment, leaving the men to talk.
One of the men says to the other, “The missus and I went to the nicest restaurant last night." What was it called?" the other inquiries. “That’s just It." he replies. "I can't recall, Say what's the name of that red flower that has thorns all over it?” A rose" he responds.
"Yeah that’s it”, he says energetically. He then whirls around, and yells in to the kitchen “Hey Rose! What was the name of the restaurant we went to last night?”

Six again
A man asked his wife what she'd like for her birthday. "I would love to be six again", she replied.
On the morning of her birthday, he got her up bright and early, and off they went to a local theme park. He put her on every ride in the park.
Five hours later she staggered out of the theme park, her head reeling and her stomach upside down. They went o a fast food joint and ate to their heart's content. Then they were off to a movie.
Finally she returned home with her husband and collapsed into bed. He leaned over and asked lovingly: “Well dear, what was it like being six again?" One eye opened. “You idiot, I meant my dress size".

Swinging with the mood

'It’s not just women, as is presumed, men have mood swings too. Similar to women, men have hormonal cycles too. However the changes in men vary with the age and testosterone levels. And these levels increase and decrease throughout the day, every day. But it is not yet scientifically determined whether men go through monthly physical mood - altering cycles similar to women.
Many men find it difficult to express to the spouse or family what's bothering them, because of the conditioning that happens over many years. Men think it is a sign of weakness to express their emotions, especially sadness, disappointments, anxiety, fear etc. However they open up to a counseller. This is because, usually a family member trying to intervene is viewed as nagging' says KumarBabu, a famous psychiatrist in one of his interview.

Many a times felt how poor our neighborhood men are, in expressing their thoughts. The above clippings from a psychiatrist’s interview reveals that it’s not just in our home, but everywhere men are less expressive. Being less expressive is not a good diet for a healthy relationship. When will they realize it? May be this blog will trip some of their thoughts.

Are we eating healthy food?

An article in a leading news paper states that including branded products, sold in retail food market seem to be adulterated. Right from the fresh fruits and vegetables to all groceries is adulterated these days.
· Green leafy vegetables contain toxic metals - due to industrial pollutants absorbed by the plants.
· apples coated with wax to increase their shelf life and reduce shrinkage
· Powdered pepper with wheat flour
· Asfoetida powder with powdered rice
· Cheap soya oil with sun flower oil
· Foreign leaves added to tea...so many like these...

The task of ascertaining the purity of the food consumed by people continues to be time consuming. Fresh fruits and vegetables were an alternative when groceries were contaminated in the name of adulteration. But what to eat now when fresh foods are contaminated? Why d they spoil the natural food in the name of business? Don’t they realize even their kith and kin are affected by this? The situation has changed from 'eat food to be healthy' to 'eat healthy food to at least live your life for a while.
If anyone of you comes to know the methods of checking the fresh fruits adulteration, please share it with us too.

Super Singer

Super Singer is a talent show in one of the excellent television channel in Tamilnadu. You also must have heard about it or even watched it. My husband and me will try our best to wind up our work before 9 P.M everyday and sit in front of the television to watch the young dudes exposing their talents in music. I always admire how the competition adds spice to the work people do. The same way the tough competition that existed among the singers and their quality was attracting us every day. From around few lakhs the people were filtered to few tens down the year. Till then all these people were judged and filtered on the basis of few parameters for a singer like - shruthi, layam, thalam, breath control, sangadhi etc, by the established play back singers of the cinema industry. Good. So far everything went well. The last ten people were of good quality. We were happy and making our own guesses of the winner of the title. But then came something called wild card rounds in the show. In which they called few of the already rejected people, made them sing again, selected few from them and clupped them with the ten who were waiting to participate in semi finals, thus by reducing the quality of the singers in the advance levels. Most of the audience at least my friends and family who were watching this program got irritated due to this wild card rounds which came once in every advancing rounds and added people who we thought were seriously not up to the mark of the cream ten, initial semi finalist people. What made this channel do like this? Was there any political pressure to include any of the rejected candidates to come back in to the show again? Or the channel wants to drag the show for another few months? Whatever it may be the channel has to seriously think before doing such a kind of thing in their show. In my known circle many people stopped watching this show in the recent past due to all this boring wild card rounds. Ok, at least this we can accept to some extent. But after the semi finals, there came another system called polling, which we thought is a real absurd. . Instead of a well known singer judging the candidate the program insisted the public to vote for the best singer in the round, to qualify to next levels. The major drawbacks of this polling-
The system of judgement which was transparent to the viewers were now hidden in the form of voting
Of course the public view on the singers is important, still most of them are lay mans in the music who do not know whether the singer performed well by sticking to all parameters like shruti, thalam and all. So the channel should have at least made the results based on public opinion-voting plus the judgment from the well known singers.
Since the result was based on the voting alone, the candidate who have big network among the participants will obviously qualify through, though he is a normal singer compared to few others in the competition.
The conclusion of this big story is, the channel has to think many a times before doing such a kind of things like wild card, voting etc, in the shows which has high TRPs. Even if they do, let it be transparent in some way to the people, so that the viewers at least will have feeling that in the name of voting there is no corruptions going around even in a television show.
